The Cincinnati Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (CACDL) is a professional organization founded by criminal defense lawyers for criminal defense lawyers. Our organization provides a place for criminal defense lawyers to gather and discuss current legal issues and changes to the law that both directly and indirectly affect our clients as well as our community at large.
The CACDL hosts monthly CLE events to further our members' knowledge of the current state of the law as well as provide them skills, resources, and information about various topics. Prior CLEs have addressed a myriad of topics, covering all areas of criminal law that are relevant in Juvenile Court, Municipal Court, Common Pleas Court, and the Appellate Courts. Topics that have recently been covered include juvenile bindover cases, OVI issues, evidentiary concerns, trial techniques, forfeitures, and issues for appeal. The CACDL also maintains a Yahoo Group and a Facebook page to provide online forums for our members to seek guidance and advice regarding pending cases.
At our CLEs, our organization hosts luncheons in order to better develop and maintain friendships within the defense bar. We are always happy to welcome new members and encourage any and all criminal defense attorneys that practice in the Greater Cincinnati Area to join us. In addition to our CLE luncheons, the CACDL hosts non-CLE events & outings for our members to enjoy each others' company beyond the confines of the courtroom. While the CACDL's primary purpose is to help local defense attorneys develop and maintain skills for the courtroom, the CACDL also works to foster a sense of camaraderie and fraternity amongst the attorneys of the local criminal defense bar.
